THE DALMATIA REGION
Dalmatia is a region on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, situated mostly in modern Croatia and spreading between the island of Rab in the Northwest and the Gulf of Kotor (Montenegro) in the south-east. The hinterland, Zagora, ranges from fifty kilometres in width in the north to just a few kilometres wide in the south. Bosnia has a few kilometres of seashore in southern Dalmatia.
The largest Dalmatian islands include Dugi Otok, Ugljan, Pašman, Brac, Hvar, Korcula, Vis, Lastovo and Mljet. The largest Dalmatian mountains are Dinara, Mosor, Svilaja, Biokovo, Mosec and Kozjak. The rivers are Zrmanja, Krka, Cetina and Neretva.
The Dalmatian concordant coastline also includes an immense number of coves, islands and channels. This makes it an attractive place for nautical races and nautical tourism in general. There is also a large number of marinas. Dalmatia also includes several national parks that are tourist attractions: Paklenica karst river, Kornati archipelago, Krka river rapids and Mljet island.
Brac is the largest and highest of the Dalmatian islands and has superb all year round climate. There is wealth of culture to explore: rural churches and monasteries, prehistoric cave dwellings, ancient Roman sarcophagi and archaeological sites. Famous for it’s white marble stone (used in the White House, Washington DC), the island has a culture of fishing, wine and olive oil making and also farming. Outside the little villages, the island is sparsely populated.
The well preserved landscape is covered with pine forests, olive groves, grapevines, fig trees, orange and lemon groves and vibrant bougainvillea’s. Follow narrow winding roads through charming villages; discover deserted beaches and spend long lunches in family run restaurants. For the more energetic activities, the island offers fishing, scuba diving and windsurfing, hiking, cycling, gliding and parasailing.
Duboka Bay is one of the most beautiful bays on the Adriatic. Protected and secluded, the bay is a well kept secret even today.Experience the best of island life at Duboka.
The villa is located 5 metres from the beach, with it’s own private access
